2005 NASA Invention of the Year Award
Two Chemistry Department faculty members, Professor Chris Clausen and Associate Professor Cherie Geiger, along with Ph.D. Chemistry student Ms. Kathleen Brooks, Dr. Jacqueline Quinn of the Kennedy Space Center, and Prof. Debra Reinhardt of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at UCF, have been awarded the National Aeronautics and Space Administration 2005 Invention of the Year and 2005 Government and Commercial Invention of the Year for their work on Zero-valent metal emulsions for reductive dehalogenation of ground water and soil contaminants. The team was honored on October 26 at an award ceremony in Washington D.C.
