Students Who Excel in Classroom, Community Service Honored at Founders' Day
Several University of Central Florida students with outstanding academics and community service received Founders' Day awards from their colleges on Wednesday.
College of Sciences
Founders’ Award: Michelle Lee Josey is a Forensic Science major on the Biochemistry track with minors in Anthropology, Chemistry and Microbiology/Molecular Biology. The Spring Hill native is in her fourth year at UCF and plans to graduate this summer. She plans on obtaining her Ph.D in Biochemistry from the University of California-Berkeley and continuing forensic research as she works towards establishing herself as a respected forensic biochemist. Josey is part of a research team led by chemistry professor Kevin Belfield that developed a new Two-Photon 3-D Optical Data Storage technology allowing users to record and store massive amounts of data onto a single DVD. She has volunteered with UCF’s Honors Educational Reach Out (HERO) program and Alternative Spring Break.
