Dr. Ciceron O. Yanez
PhD. Chemistry, University of Central Florida
B.S. Chemistry, Universidad Simon Bolivar, Venezuela
Dr Yanez uses several microscopy techniques (including DIC, phase contrast, widefield, multiphoton fluorescence microscopy) to image cells (in vitro and in vivo), tissue sections, whole-mounted organs and tumors, and intravital microscopy in mice.
Dr Yanez's Ph.D. research has also involved conventional and microwave-assisted synthesis of efficient two-photon absorbing (2PA) materials for applications such as optical data storage, fluorescence microscopy, phototherapy.
More recently, Dr Yanez has been working on the synthesis of small photo-reactive Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL inhibitor molecules in tyrosine kinase (TKIs) resistant non-small cell lung carcinoma cells.
Research Interests: Organic synthesis, microwave-assisted reactions, therapy, fluorescence microscopy, biophotonics, apoptosis, molecular biology, oncotherapy.
