Research
Barry Fookes trained in the steel Industry, graduated from Nottingham University in metallurgy, and was initially employed by the UKAEA working on the metallurgy of atomic reactor fuels. Joined the academic fraternity at Brunel University in London. He gained a doctorate in materials science and was founder director of the Experimental Techniques Center, a center supporting multidiscipline research training and servicing some four hundred post-graduates each year. Transferred to Venezuela as CEO of a scientific instrument company, offering academic, industrial and commercial consultancy until 1994. founded GGS, Inc in Florida before joining the Forensic Science program at UCF. Interests include all forms of microscopy and instrumental analysis, imaging theory, and structural studies in solids.
