Chemistry Ph.D.
Graduate Chemistry at UCF

The Ph.D. program in Chemistry provides doctoral training in many areas within the chemical sciences, with tracks in Materials Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, and Forensic Science. This program draws upon the strengths of the Department of Chemistry as well as other units within the University of Central Florida (e.g., CREOL/School of Optics, AMPAC, Biomolecular Sciences Program, etc.). The curriculum has been developed in collaboration with industrial scientists and represents a response to current and projected competencies needed by industry. This training provides scientists and educators who are capable of conducting research to solve important problems in contemporary fields of the chemical sciences and prepare a highly skilled work force to ensure the technological and economic health and competitiveness of Central Florida. No doctoral program with a comparable focus exists in the entire state.

The Chemistry Department at UCF has developed an extensive network of partnerships with Central Florida business and industry. These alliances enrich the learning experience and provide unique opportunities both during and after the advanced degree programs. Companies recently offering partnership programs for UCF Chemistry students include Lucent Technologies, NASA, Lockheed-Martin Corporation, MBI International, Cirent Corporation, Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, M. D. Andersen Cancer Center of the Orlando Regional Medical Center, and the Walt Disney Cancer Institute at Florida Hospital.
